Children’s Party Ideas

Some really interesting children’s party ideas are the party ideas that the kids come up with themselves! My teenage daughter would love to have a surreal party at the mall with an unlimited budget, but when the reality of cost sets in, she came up with a smashing idea!

She just turned 13 in the fall and she decided to collaborate with her guests on what they should do. We ended up having a sleep over party complete with games, karaoke and do it yourself pizzas!

The most amazing thing was the girls absolutely had a blast! One actually commented that it was the best party she’s ever gone too. For me as a parent, I was tickled because the party didn’t really cost a lot to do.

Children’s Party Ideas - Games

Here’s a rundown on the games that were played.

  1. Twister - truly a oldie but a goodie! The girls played twister for well over an hour. Even the younger kids that came along with some of the older guests were right in there like a dirty shirt.
  2. Pass the parcel - This is a game that we discovered while visiting in South Africa. Basically, you wrap up a bunch of candies into a small box that is wrapped with several layers of wrapping paper and newsprint. Make it hard to unwrap. Now, pull out some simple clothing like a hat, scarf and robe plus some oven mitts. Now the idea of the game is the kids all roll a single die until someone comes up with a six. That person now has to quickly dawn all the clothing and start unwrapping the parcel. At the same time the kids continue to toss the die until someone else rolls a six. Then the first child has to quickly remove the hat, scarf, etc so that this child can continue unwrapping the parcel. The child who gets to the prize is the winner.
  3. Musical chairs - Our younger daughter had a blast with this one. She’s seven and she got to run the tape recorder. Off and on she laughed her heart out.

Other children’s party ideas revolved around the food. I made up some pizza dough and the girls were given dishes with various pizza toppings to choose. That was a lot of fun too. They each had a turn to top their pizza and then we placed them into the oven to cook. Nothing like mixing fun with food!

Well, I hope that I’ve offered you some of the children’s party ideas that you can successfully use in your next party!
