Toddler Party
Planning the perfect toddler party can be challenging. Your child is at an age where sharing is a bit of a problem. Fortunately, your toddler better understands what’s going on.
But when thinking about planning your toddler party, always keep this point in mind. When inviting children, use this rule of thumb. What ever the age of your child is will determine the number of guests your child can mentally handle.
This will be a good start for your toddler party. Next will be decorating the party place with lots of colors. Toddlers, like babies, love lots of colors. Streamers, balloons and a great party table will be so great for your toddler.
Don’t ever try to complicate the party. Your toddler will simply love the fact that he or she is enjoying their special day! And that’s really the best part of your toddler’s party.
Other things to think about regarding your toddler party are great games that the kids can play. The games you play will be age motivated, so choose the games appropriate for the age.
Here’s some toddler party game ideas for you.
2+ Year Old Games
Dress Ups- Have your children decorate a card board box to hold the dress up things. Collect clothes and various props to put into the box. Good stuff to use is things like hats, wigs, and crazy colorful old cloths from your local thrift store.
When choosing clothing, make sure that they can easily be put on and off. Also include things like bangles, clip-on earrings, belts and the such. Now have a great two year old dress up toddler party!
Indoor Obstacle Course - On rainy birthday’s, it’s a bit tougher to come up with games. Here’s a neat idea for you. Set up an obstacle course by setting up things like:
- crawling through the legs of the kitchen chairs
- sliding under (on their tummies) a cord tied between two chairs
- making a tunnel out of chairs
- making a tent with chairs too
- playing leapfrog with each other
- walking along a ‘balance beam’ made of rolled-up towels
So as you can see, this game will be as good as you can invent the ideas!
3+ Year Old Games
Memory Game - kids love to be challenged by a match memory game. A variation of this game that a 3 year old could handle is place four or five different objects on a tray. Let the kids look at them for a minute or so. Have them close their eyes and hide one item from the tray. Then get them to figure out which is missing!
Rice Maracas - Doing crafts with toddlers is always a winner at your toddler party. And kids also love to make music. A great way to put these two ideas together into a craft is to give to paper cups. Get them to draw and decorate the outsides of the cups. Once completed, put a small handful of uncooked rice in one cup and tape the other cup to it to make a simple maraca! Then you can put some kid music on that has a nice beat and they can shake their freshly made maracas to the music!
4+ Year Old Games
Body Draw Out- Four year olds’ love crafts even more then three year olds do! Take advantage of this. Check out your local craft store and pick up a roll of inexpensive paper that is about two-three feet wide (1 meter). Roll out enough for one child to lie on. Get another child to draw out the child’s outline. Then permit the child who lied down to color in what they think they look with various markers, crayons and even glitter and such. This will be a winner game!
Clay Dinosaurs- Look in dinosaur books and theme your party around them. Then get them to choose the dinosaur they like the most and using modelling clay, get them to make their favourite with it.
Then make the landscape with things like cellophane to make lakes and volcanic flames. Snipping from the garden can make great jungles and when done, they can add their dinosaurs to the landscape!
So, I hope you’ve gotten some good ideas for your toddler party! Just make sure you and your toddler enjoys the party!
