Toddler Birthday Help?
By fthomas | August 29, 2009
My toddler’s 3rd b-day is comming up and I have three options that I need help to decide on , which one do you all think might work better?
1. Chuckee Cheese with just 3 of her friends and a bunch of adult family members (I wanted to invite 11 kids but Chuck e Cheese is just so expensive!)
2. A 2 hour party at home with family and then directly after take her to chuckee cheese with just me, and her grandmother.
3. Or take her to chukee cheese on her birthday and then have a party for her the next day at home with no specific ending time?
What do you think?

I would say option 3 she might be too tired and overwhelmed to do it all in one day.

1 is more than enough for a 3 year old..I had a 2 hour party for my 3 year old last year and she was wiped out!

2 or 3.
I like 3 better, and perhaps you can ask one of her friends to join you.

I would bring her to chuckee chesses with 3 friends…
They will probably have really fun there..[Oh and make sure that there are plenty of activites there for 3 year olds..] If they don’t she will get bored, and you dont want that to happen on her b-day!! Anyway have fun……=)

Most adult family members **** loud places like Chuck E. Cheese. Unless you are talking young adults who have small kids too or very energetic dedicated relatives, they will just be showing up out of obligation and they will all have Excedrin headaches later.
Invite a couple of her friends to go to Chuck E. Cheese with her and try to get the other moms to go to so they can help chase kids. Don’t do the party package, just go play. Offer to buy their tokens only, or don’t ask for presents at this event and just call it a playdate & everybody pays their own way–it would just be a special treat for your daughter at her birthday.
Then on another day, have a small family gathering at home. If she doesn’t have any kid cousins to come play with her at this party, you could invite a couple of friends and their mommies too. (Either the same as Chuck E. Cheese or different). No fancy entertainment, just punch & cake and maybe play Musical Chairs or Hide & Seek or some age-appropriate party game.
Your family will be thrilled to get to miss the excitement of Chuck E. Cheese, but I understand the appeal of this location over kids invading your house—so this way she gets a bit of both.

The best children’s parties are ones that are kept fairly small. The “rule of thumb” when it comes to “kiddie” parties is to invite the same number of children as the age of the child. Three children for a three year old’s party is a good number since YOU will be responsible for them. I don’t know why anyone would want 11 toddlers at any party, that is just asking for trouble at chuckie cheese because you will be signing a contract stating that YOU will be the one responsible for whatever the party goers get into and if anyone gets hurt at the party you will be responsible. Any damage done by any of them…you will be responsible for. Three kids are a lot easier to watch than 11.

I gave my son his 3rd Birthday Party in August. So I know what you are going through.
On his real (actual) birthday I usually take my kids somewhere fun for them. Such as: movies, chuck e. cheese, the park, Disneyland, etc.
Then, that weekend I give them a party with family and friends. I have a large family so there is no such thing as a 2 hour party.
Good luck!

i think either 1 or 2 you also want it not to be too stressful for you either or you will miss it all.
nothing wrong with it being fun but think of yourself to.
